When has the team whos stadium is hosting the superbowl played in the super bowl?
Home field advantage (playing in one's own home stadium). - The closest instances to this have been Super Bowl XIV being played at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena near the Rams' then-hometown of Los Angeles and Super Bowl XIX being played at Stanford Stadium which is about 25 miles south of the 49ers' home stadium, Candlestick Park. While many Super Bowls have occurred in the Miami and New Orleans areas, neither of the area's teams (the Dolphins and Saints, respectively) have ever taken advantage of these opportunities.

Reply:they usually try to go to a neutral field
Reply:Never has it happened...the year Denver played Atlanta the SB was in Miami. The closest...Super Bowl XIV when the Rams played the Steelers in the Rose Bowl (Rams played in Anaheim Stadium) and Super Bowl XIX when the 49ers played the Dolphins played in Stanford Stadium 25 miles from Candlestick Park.
Reply:1998 the Atlanta Falcons Hosted the Denver Broncos in Atlanta. The Broncos ABOSOLUTLY killed them and Jon Elway retired.
Reply:never has happened to date
Reply:Never happened, the location has been close and an advantage for some teams, but never in their home stadium.
Reply:Never in the history of the NFL
Reply:it has never happen, looks like warm weather teams are not winners. the dolphins came close, but the 49ers played at Paolo alto a virutral home game for them. i believe the rams did come close. they played in the la coliseum 1979 season moving to Anaheim the following year 1980. its going to happen one of these days.
