First time hosting a dinner & very nervous?

I'm hosting a dinner for the whole family, and I've never cooked for anyone besides for my hubby. Anyone have any advice? What should I cook? Should I have desert? How should i set everything up? And how can I make it entertaining, %26amp; not boring?

First time hosting a dinner %26amp; very nervous?
set the table the night before...

make something you are good at and are comfortable with, now is not the time to try new recipes!

serve a appetizer or salad, entree with vegetables and dessert and coffee or a cheese plate with wine
Reply:I have a big family and love hosting dinners.. and I totally feel for you.

First of all, make something you are comfortable with, now is not the time to experiment. You can usually double or triple a recipe so you can feed everyone.

Don't stress about what people do or don't like, as guests they should be polite and take only what they will want to eat.

With that said, a main dish and a starch side dish and vegetable side dish should accommodate everyone.

Dessert is nice, but you can do something simple, that you can make ahead, or even purchase from a bakery. Assorted cookies, pound cake with fresh fruit or a simple apple pie are big hits.

Have everything prepared before your guests arrive so you can visit. Have all the plates silverware napkins and glassware put out either on the table or a side board so people don't have to go through your cupboards.

If this is just family maybe bring out a board game for during dessert, or you can always sit around the table talking, no need to go all out for this, the dinner is good enough.

Just remember to relax and enjoy, that will put everyone else at ease and it will be a success.
Reply:First off you need to figure out whos all coming and make enough for those who want seconds to have it.

For super big family dinners I usually do a 15 or bigger turkey, Bone in Ham or several big beef roasts cooked low and slow in the oven or slow cooker so I can concentrate on the other items.

Have one pasta salad, one veggie salad, one fruit type salad, Have dinner rolls, veggie tray and dip, Have coffee, tea and sodas or juice for those that want it.

If your going with Ham, make scalloped potatos or a green bean casserole. If your going with Beef roast go with mashed potatos and gravy. But those are just ideas.

For dessert, buy angel food cakes, and buy ice cream and toppings for ppl to choose from.

Make the whole thing sit down but Buffet service so you dont need to be running around while everyones eating. And dont be afraid to ask for help from the family thats there when its clean up time. They came to your home to eat, they can be kind and repay a bit by doing dishes or packing the food away.

Good luck, best wishes and happy cooking
Reply:I would advise picking a menu that relies a lot on dishes that can be prepared ahead, or finished simply at the last minute. This will allow you time to spend with your guests and be a hostess. Otherwise it is easy to get stuck rushing around fixing all sorts of dishes. So for example, maybe dessert is fresh berries with a simple topping of whipped cream, drizzled heavy cream, or what we did this week, lemon curd. The berries also could be soaked in a little liqueur like Chambord or Grand Marnier.

But this dessert would be all set to go, just put the topping on the already prepared cups of berries and you are done.

So as much of this kind of recipes as you can put together will allow you to feel relaxed and not worry how things will turn out, as you know they are already done or near done.
Reply:make a standing rib roast, or a pork crown roast....very impressive. also make some au gratin potatoes, rice pilaf, or twice baked potatoes. as an extra vegetable, make honey glazed carrots. make a nice green salad and some dinner rolls. have a nice bottle of wine handy and a nice dessert...possibly apple crisp or strawberry shortcakes.

make it very elegant. use linen napkins and table cloth. set out some candles and put a nice flower centerpiece or arrangement on the table.
Reply:If you are that nervous, make things that you know are good.

Also, if you can make everything ahead and just reheat, it saves you lots of headaches and hassles.

Don't be afraid to ask your guests to help with little tasks if necessary.

and most importantly, if they are drunk enough before dinner, they won't notice any problems with the food!!

;-P

good luck
Reply:First--don't fret!! Make something easy, that you don't have to spend time in the kitchen while you have company. Let the oven do the work. How about baking a roast, potatoes, carrots, onion. Buy a gravy mix or can(s) of gravy, so you don't fret over lumpy gravy, or serve juices from roast as an aujus. During last half hr, put in frozen veggies, around roast.

Yes, you should have a dessert. Don't know how many you are serving, but just get a Dutch apple and cherry pie from the grocer's freezer and bake before hand. Throw in french bread during last 15 min. %26amp; Viola--Easy dinner! All you have to due is slice roast.
Reply:do something that involves everyone, like fajitas. have all of your toppings out so they can pick what they want. For dessert try a chocolate fondue with a variety of fruits and cookies to dip in the chocolate (dont forget s'mores)
Reply:Relax, find a good website for food lovers such as BBC, UKTV etc etc here you can find a lot of professional advice and while you are taking the notes enjoy a glass of wine.

You can do it

Defrost 4 skinless boneless chicken breasts the night prior to preparing this meal. Refrigerate.

Mix 1/2 cup of floor, 1 teaspoon of pepper, 1 teaspoon of marjoram, 1/2 teaspoon of salt.

Take four chicken breasts rinse and pat dry. Press chicken breasts into flour mixture. Coat thoroughly. Shake off excess.

In a large frying pan, place a quarter stick of butter and melt. Add 1 cup of fresh sliced mushrooms, 1/2 cup of sliced green onions. Saute. When tender remove from skillet. Put chicken in same skillet. Brown. Add onions and mushrooms back into skillet. Add 1/4 cup of chicken broth. Add 1/4 cup of dry sherry or dry Marsala. Cook on medium two to three minutes, until mushroom mixture thickens. Serve with bread and butter, beverage of your choice, and fresh fruit for dessert. Your family will think you've hired a gourmet chef.

2. 30 Minute Incredible Cranberry Pork Chops

Fry four to six 3/4 inch thick pork chops in butter or margarine over medium heat for five minutes. When brown, drain off all fat. Now, add 1/2 cup of apple juice to pork chops in pan. Bring to a boil. Now, cover and simmer for an additional five minutes. Remove pork chops from pan. Keep Warm. Reserve 1/2 cup of the juices in the frying pan. Mix together 8 0unces of cranberry sauce, 2 teaspoons of corn starch, and 1 teaspoon of brown sugar. Add this to reserved juices in frying pan. Stir well. Cook this mixture about 3 minutes, until it is thick and bubbly. Spoon mixture over pork chops. Serve with a quick cook rice, frozen or canned vegetable and applesauce.

3. 30 Minute Meatball Sandwiches

Mix two eggs, one pound of hamburger and one cup of bread crumbs together. Form meatballs. Place a paper towel on a microwave safe plate. Put your meatballs on top of this and microwave for two and a half minutes. Turn the meatballs and microwave for another three minutes. Place meatballs in a pan on your stove. Add a jar of your favorite ready made spaghetti sauce to the meatballs. Heat sauce. Serve meatballs on submarine sandwich rolls. Top with parmesan cheese. Serve a tossed salad on the side. Cut up cantelope for desert. Voila! A nutritious meal in under 30 minutes.

4. 30 Minute Soup and Sandwich Souper Easy Supper

Prepare this soup first, and serve with grilled ham and cheese sandwiches. Add watermelon for desert and you're done in under 30 minutes! To make the soup, place the contents of one ten ounce package of frozen cut broccoli in a medium sauce pan. Add 3/4 cup of water and 3/4 cup of shredded carrots to mixture. Bring to a boil, then simmer, covered for five minutes. Mix together 2 cups of milk, a dash of pepper, a dash of salt, and 1/3 cup of flour. Combine with one 14 1/2 oz. can of chicken broth. Add this mixture to the sauce pan. Add six ounces of shredded co-jack cheese. Cook approximately 10 minutes, or until mixture is thoroughly heated. Grill hot ham and cheese sandwiches while soup is heating. Serve!

5. 30 Minute Man Pleasing Meal

Wash four to six potatoes. Poke holes in them with a fork. Place in microwave. Cook for five minutes. Check potatoes. Cook for an additional 5 to 8 minutes depending upon microwave strength and potato size. Keep warm when done. While potatoes are cooking, preheat broiler. Take four to six steaks and using a sharp knife, place several slits in each steak. Stuff the slits with rosemary and garlic. Cover steaks with lemon pepper. Broil to desired doneness. Serve with baked potatoes, fresh salad, and bread and butter.

Serve canned fruit cocktail for desert.

make cupcakes for dessert

you can make these the day brfor or in the morning

the pot roast can cook for hours. just make sure it has liquid.

you have meat , potatoes and veggies all in one.
Reply:My first ? is for how many? That will dictate allot. The next is what is your budget and how formal do you want it. With the weather getting nicer it might be allot of fun to do a nice bbq and eat outside with tablecloth and candles. People are eager to get outside now. You know best what these folks like to eat. Family style always keeps things lively as do fun foods like mexican, oriental and use chop stix, etc. A very safe bet is your traditional turkey dinner. You have to work really hard to screw that up and almost everything can be made a day or so ahead (taste better too). Some really nice apps for all occations are veggies and dip, cheese and crackers and meat/cheese and asparagus rolls with cream cheese. You always want to have something for desert w/ a good! coffee both caf and decaf. I like to serve something light with a big meal, sorbet, fresh fruit, cookies- fortune cookies make for good conversation even if you are not having chinese. For the table, just put out either a nice table cloth or place matts making sure they are clean. Cloth napkins make for a nice touch. I preffer low profile things on the table so they are not in the way of conversation. I usually use small conack snuffers with votives and a few very small arrangments of flowers, just a few flowers and greens. If you have six or more try to have one set of salt and pepper shakers to every 4-6. The night before you want to get your serving pieces out and organised; platters, bowls, gravy boats, and utensils..dont forget the butter tray and knife and bread basket. I spend the first of my budget on the liquer if a small group buying what I know each preffers; don't go cheap on this if you can help it as I have heard more talk afterwards on this issue at other affairs than any other. If a large group a nice red and white along with a small assortment of beer and then a whiskey, a gin, a vodka, and bailys for the coffee with mixers. I am not sure exactly what you are trying to pull off here but hope some of this helps, as this sounds like your premier : ) Email me through here if I can be of further help, love this kind of thing and only get to cook for my crew of forty four times a yr : ( Some keys to success; make lists and start early in the week inspecting tableware and linens. GOOD LUCK, you will do fine. recipes see below

How do you feel about someone hosting a 'light-skin' party?

I heard someone in Detroit is hosting a party called the Light Skin Party. Needless to say, the club got numerous phone calls objecting to the idea saying that it's a way of segregation within the culture i.e. light-skin vs. dark skin. People also reference this party with the "Doll Test" (black children choosing white dolls because they think white dolls are 'pretty and good').

So, how do you feel about a party dedicated to light-skinned black women?

How do you feel about someone hosting a 'light-skin' party?
Congratulations to the "Negroes" who have successfully publicly displayed the highest form of self-hatred there is! Only one who has deep rooted, generational hatred for himself and his African ancestry would consider intra-racial segregation. They have culturally regressed 50 years by pulling a ploy that only those who would seek to further reepress African-Americans by any means necessary. After all of the struggling, marching, and scarificing the elders have done, this is how their contributions and legacies are honored. I am not only saddend to learn of this ignorance, but I am completly repulsed. When this information was shared with my parents who were participants of the civil rights movement and have shared stories of many "firsts" within my lifetime, ie: first African-Americans to hold several positions of power and authority in the City of Phila., all I could do was apologize to them and again thank them for their contributions as well as those of their contemporaries. I hope and pray that this type of ignorance is contained to Detroit and not something that would ever be entertained any where else in the world.
Reply:I would love to know why anyone thinks this is a good idea??? That is really screwed up!
Reply:nonsense. racism within a race, how sad
Reply:I think someone had a dream about his children being judged by the content of their character rather than the color of their skin.

The idea is an utter disgrace, and spits upon the memory of that man.
Reply:WHOA THATS THE WORST IDEA IVE EVER HEARD
Reply:I think it's real stupid and says a lot about the people hosting the party.
Reply:That's crazy man. In a time where things like the Jena 6 and many more injusteces towards blacks are going on this is how we show solideriety? I hope nobody with some sense goes to the damn party!
Reply:that has to be the most ignorant thing i've ever heard!
Reply:That is so dumb and racist. I am white and I still have a problem with that is that even legal?!?!
Reply:Gee....well that certainly got them the publicity they were probably after!......

I think it's very inappropriate and totally unnecessary to be doing anything of the like.

I believe that it's just one more thing that adds to the issue of skin colour and racism in the States.

Very uncool.

How do I add a gallery to my personal site with Yahoo web hosting?

I have a site with Yahoo Web Hosting, and I have used one of their templates for my design. I know they have a Gallery2 add-on, but I am looking for something more like Flickr - easy to upload and update - but that lives within my existing design.

Is there such a thing? Can you please help?

Thanks!

How do I add a gallery to my personal site with Yahoo web hosting?
i remember something like this in the tools section of the control panel. Try doing a search for gallery or pic gallery, something like that. -- if nothing comes up, look through all the wizards -

also, if you have photoshop, you can make your own pic gallery + web pages in seconds with photoshop. Go to FILE %26gt;%26gt; AUTOMATE %26gt;%26gt; WEB PIC GALLERY

it whips it up for you in a few minutes, just direct it to the folder with the pics in it and it will generate all the html pages for you, with frontpage ( http://www.interkeys.com/htmleditor you can get an html editor and edit them to your liking.

What web hosting company might I want to consider if I was looking for one with an excellent web builder?

At this time I am looking to set up a personal travel website and maybe later for business, but first I need to find a strong web hosting company. I have looked up several including Lunarpages, Infinology, Host Monster, StartLogic, and Blut Host. I will not pretend to know all that much about web hosting, but what I do know is that I want a very profesional looking website when I am done, which means I need one with an excellent web builder. Lunarpages is the only one that has shown the profionalism of their web builder program. However, with that being said, if any of you know something that I don't like a more qualified web hosting company that you recoment, I am more than willing to pay attention. Thank you very much for your help.

What web hosting company might I want to consider if I was looking for one with an excellent web builder?
Honestly you get what you pay for. Website builder are not true html code and have limitations. You need to learn a programming language or pay a web designer.

What are some good websites that offer web hosting?

I'm trying to start work on a website and I'm looking for some good websites that offer web hosting. If you have used this web hosting before please let me know if the price for what was offered was reasonable and what all was offered.

Thanks.

What are some good websites that offer web hosting?
If you like to create websites (usually you will end up more than 1 website, I got more than 100 websites in about 6 months' time), go for multiple web hosting services where you could host all your websites in one account.

I would like to suggest following webhosting which I use, they are excellent.

Hostmonster http://www.hostmonster.com/track/ryukend...

They offer hosting of "unlimited domains" and you will get massive webspace of 300000 MB (300 GB ). They only charge $5.95/month and they offer "a free Domain Name" and installing service called "Fantastico". By using Fantastico, you could create own forum, photo gallery, shopping cart (e-commerce),your own auction site and your own blogs within few seconds. They also offer "Free Website Builder" as well.

Visit the site to check details.

With the generally weak US dollar, a north American web hosting company might be competitive with a local hosting company. You might find better server infrastructure as well.

On the other hand, I don't believe that I'd want my web pages hosted in North Korea or Iran.

How much is a good price for a web design and hosting package?

I'm just looking for a design and hosting package and don't know what a good price would be? I'm not looking for anything massive. Just a sort of basic 4-5 page site. Thanks.

How much is a good price for a web design and hosting package?
I would like to suggest following webhosting which I use, they are excellent.

Hostmonster http://www.hostmonster.com/track/ryukend...

They offer hosting of "unlimited domains" and you will get massive webspace of 300000 MB (300 GB ). They only charge $5.95/month and they offer "a free Domain Name" and installing service called "Fantastico". By using Fantastico, you could create own forum, photo gallery, shopping cart (e-commerce),your own auction site and your own blogs within few seconds. They also offer "Free Website Builder" as well.

Reply:Looking at your wants I did some calculating using my standard figures according to www.webdesigningcompany.net I got an estimate of about $2,700 and if you needed monthly maintenance

about $1300/mth thereafter. Report It

Reply:1. Go to http://www.1and1.com/?k_id=9818790

2. Look at their 2.99 a month plan. It even includes a domain. I have several of these hosting accounts and they do everything i need. I'm sold.
Reply:Anything less than $10 a month is good.

I'd have a look at

$60 for a template http://www.web-site-templates.biz
Reply:Honestly, if your site is that small you could try something like a free Wordpress blog. Yes, it is technically a blog site but you will get free templates to choose from and they will host your page for free. That and: you don't have to pick a template designed for blogging. Just one option!
Reply:http://www.dakotawebhosting.com has a package called website tonight that allows you to design a website online without knowing any prorgamming. If you just want a basic site I would try this.
Reply:I agree with farzad k. You don't have to spend much to get a basic site. Reliable hosting with a do-it-yourself online site building tool could work. Hosting prices 3.95-7.95 per month, domain price no more than $10 per year. Some services, like Netfirms, will give you site building software for signing up.

To have someone design the site for you is where you get into higher pricing. A basic 4-5 page site would cost about $200-$500 depending on what you need.
Reply:hosting can go from anyway 1$ to 5$ a month for you. As for the design it can be:

simple personal page : free

a little biz looking : 5$ - 150$

professional looking : 500$-600$

i am assuming no programming and simple info on each page here anything more will cost more.

for hosting check godaddy anything expensive don't even bother

What is good and affordable hosting service that is fast in both USA and China?

In China, the bandwidth is costly, so web hosting services there are expensive and might not be fast when pages are loaded from overseas computers. And if I host within the USA, visitors from China may experience slow page loads.

What are some good web hosting companies that has best of both worlds? I need a hosting service that's not too expensive but is fast for both Chinese and American visitors.

Without being biased, I can provide you with hosting - http://ilobby.co.uk test it for yourself, obviously there's loads of bigger hosts like 1%26amp;1 and dreamhost.

Their plans is cheap, and I have a coupon code:yahoo20, you can get 20% off.

What should I call my freelance business of Web Design and Hosting?
Use the tools at http://marcusvorwaller.com/blog/archives... to help you come up with some names.
Reply:I recently saw an SUV with a full vehicle wrap that looked like spider webs. On the back window it read something to the effect of: Web Designs by Spider and it gave a URL, which I can't recall right this second. Very simple, very eye catching, but a little creepy looking. It was getting ALOT of attention from everyone that walked by.

Good Luck!!

What shall I serve at a baby shower that I'm hosting?

Next week I'm hosting a small babyshower. I'll have nine plus myself. It starts at 1pm so I'll be serving luch. Does anyone have any ideas on what I could serve? Please include the recipies if you do. I'm looking for something simple and tasty. Also appropriate for warm weather. Thanks.

What shall I serve at a baby shower that I'm hosting?
It sounds like you're looking for something simple but not run-of-the-mill. These are old staples from showers in days gone by that are still excellent:

Ribbon sandwich loaf

Tea sandwiches

Gazpacho served in tea cups
Reply:I went to a baby shower recently and they had all different salads. That was it - pasta salad, antipasta, tossed, Caesar, Julienne, chef's, taco, macaroni, potato ..... I thought that was a really good idea.

And salads are really easy to make, too.
Reply:fried chicken!..or small appetizers. Hot Spinach Artichoke dip is always a good one
Reply:mini hot dogs in sweet and sour sauce and pigs in a blanket, those little mints in the shape of baby rattles and shoes, friuts and vegetables with dip.
Reply:You could do BBQ's, chips, pickles, cheese and crackers, and punch. Here's a very simple recipe for the BBQ's :

1 lb. hamburger

1 can chicken gumbo soup

1 tsp. mustard

1/4 cup ketchup

Salt and Pepper

1/2 Onion (optional)

Fry hamburger%26amp;onion. Add soup, mustard, ketchup, and salt and pepper to taste. Simmer 1/2 hr or until thick).

For the punch mix sherbet with Sprite. Use pink, yellow or green sherbet depending on if you know what the baby will be. You will need 1/2 qt of sherbet and a 2 liter bottle of Sprite. Pour the Sprite into a bowl and add the sherbet until the mixture turns frothy.
Reply:Do sandwich platters to start - make 6 sandwiches each of chicken salad, egg salad, pimento cheese, and sliced ham. All of this can be purchased at the deli. Cut each sandwich into two halves, diagonally and stack them on a plate/platter decoratively.

Do a raw vegetable platter with broccoli, baby carrots, grape tomatoes, and celery sticks. Ranch or onion dip are the most popular. Put out some whole wheat crackers with the vegetables. If you don't have a lot of platters, cover cookie sheets and pizza pans with aluminum foil.

Do a fruit platter or bowl with chunks of canteloupe, honeydew, seedless watermelon, strawberries and blueberries.

You can order a decorated cake or just do one yourself and top it with diaper pins, a rattle, a pacifier, a little plastic baby doll you can find in the toy section of a dollar store, etc...

To drink, have lemonade and decaffeinated iced tea or a punch bowl with a simple fruit punch (you can get the frozen party punch that you just thaw a little and then pour ginger ale over it.)

The most important part is to do everything ahead that you can and not make yourself crazy. The part everyone will remember the most is how much fun they had, not how homemade the food was. A relaxed hostess is the best :)
Reply:Spinach Dip is always a hit, just mix 1 tub sour cream with 1 pkg frozen chopped spinach (defrost and sqeeze dry first), and add 1 pkg vegetable soup mix. put in sour dough bread, or pumpernickel, get some extra bread, even bagels will work, break in pieces, and dip them in the dip, sooo yummy. Also veggies and dip, finger sandwiches, fruit salad, fresh fruit cut up with some dip (yogurt and whip cream). have fun!!
Reply:I just hosted one last week %26amp; we served the following: chicken salad croissants, marinated meatballs, mixed nuts, homemade mints, veggie tray with dip, fruit tray %26amp; cupcakes. Don't forget a good punch also.
Reply:ice cream cake! you can get some at walmart
Reply:Whoopie pies - they're soooo tasty! If you decide to make these, it's great if you take and separate the filling in two bowls then add drops of food coloring to make one bowl blue filling and the other pink filling. Good luck!

(Watch out - there are pop-ups galore on that site!)
Reply:I give baby shower all the time.I served fruit tray, meat tray and vegetable trays. i also play game.
Reply:Baby back ribs!!!

say that your baby was already born but it kept crying... then mumble incoherently.
Reply:Fruit Salad with fruit dip, mmmmm. Marshmallow creme, cream cheese and a tsp of vanilla. Yummy.
Reply:always include a salad, but a good way to do it is have everyone make their own salads. set out a variety of veggies like red onions, black and green olives, radish, tomatoes, etc. add some meats like turkey and ham chopped up. let everyone make it the way they like it. or you can do sandwiches and let everyone do their own. include regular bread, wheat, and alternatives like flat out bread for ones who are watching what they eat. for meats i would do ham, turkey, salami, pepperoni, pastrami. put out veggies like tomatoe onion and lettuce. get mustard(spicy brown and regular) mayo and miracle whip. make a potatoe salad to go with it. boil the potatoes like you would for a regular one and add relich but substitute sour cream for the mayo. it tastes incredible also instead of seasoning it with black pepper use white. its a little spicier but its powdery and not gritty like black. and boiled eggs for the salad. it will be less worjk for you so you can focus on the decorations and other things like games. also you are guaranteed that everyone will like what they eat because they choose what they want. if you do salad get one iceburg, one spring mix, and maybe a baby spinach mix. doing it this way you also dont have to worry about allergies and stuff in case you dont know all the people invited well. make it easy on yourself soi you can enjoy the party too and salad and sandwiches are great in hot weather. also easy cleanup. have a great time. sorry so long.
Reply:my mom made the food for my baby shower. she kept it simple: soup and salad.

she made 2 kinds of homemade soup, ham %26amp; bean and turkey with wild rice. she just served some pre-washed bagged mixed greens in a nice bowl with some other veggies added in(i.e. tomatoes, red onions, etc.) and had some dressing on the side. since this is summer and my shower was in the winter, you could possibly serve lighter soups like a creamy tomato or wedding soup. you can pick them up premade at your local deli. you could also get a nice sandwich platter or cheese tray to go along with it, and make a fruit salad or platter.

baby shower themed cookies are always great...cake is optional, i prefer homemade to the "personalized" ones at bakeries.

just remember to keep it simple, since this is(probably) all ladies--you won't need big steaks or beer here! lol. good luck, i hope you have fun. :-)

When throwing a party for someone else, should the invite state who's hosting?

I'm hosting an Open House for my niece. She doesn't want to give the impression that she's begging for new stuff (but we don't want to discourage gifts, either). I don't mind stating that my husband and I are hosting, but don't want to sound tacky. Are there any etiquette rules regarding this?

When throwing a party for someone else, should the invite state who's hosting?
I think that it is important to state on the invitation who's hosting the party.

When you host a party on someone elses behalf, you are not only taking "credit" for hosting the party, but also making yourself the official contact person for RSVP's, questions, driving directions, etc., thus relieving your guest of honor of the burden of doing anything more than getting themselves and their home ready, and enjoying the party.
Reply:I believe when you are "throwing a party" for someone else, they should be the one featured, however in small print on the bottom or back of the the invite. You write RSVP or contact so %26amp; so for more information.
Reply:The proper etiquette would be to, YES, state who the hosts will be.
Reply:write something along the lines of : please rsvp to the host and hostess and give your name and number

How easy it is to make money through web hosting and selling stuff on internet ?

What is the success rate ? I recently attended a workshop which was attended by over 300 people and more than 50 % bought web hosting packages sold by presenters ensuring everyone that they could make tons of money selling on the web. I am not fully convinced.

How easy it is to make money through web hosting and selling stuff on internet ?
It is not easy at all. Do not jump on the first thing that sounds "to good to be true". Do not buy any systems or products untill you do your homework. There are tons of free resources online where you can learn. There are a lot of people making six figures a month online, but most of them have been at it for a long time. Some of the sites who try to sell you a "get rich quick" program will spend $10,000 or more just for a professional sales page. The writers they hire know what to say to get you to buy.

For anyone interested in making money online, just spend a few weeks reading here: http://www.warriorforum.com/forum/

This forum is probably the best free resource online. Just be sure to read and search before you post a question that has been answered a hundred times like "how to make money online?"

And don't spend any money untill you understand the business.

The web is full of scammers.
Reply:Your welcome. Also if you really want to learn about making money online, visit income.com and sign up to be notified. The site belongs to John Reese and he has said that 95% of the training materials will be free. He is one of the good guys. Report It

Reply:this one will make you cash http://cashbin.co.uk/index.php?a=515725
Reply:YES - it works!! But - you have to be proactive about it. If you have good relations with quite a few small buisness around you (they are the best) - you can definately make money with it. One of my friends has about $400 a month just rolling in - he doesn't have to do literally anything either!

Check out http://www.DependableHost.net - click "hosting" then read about "reseller hosting". They are the best prices I've ever found - and the features are hard to pass up. You have full control over the accounts you "sell". After you pay for the monthly account then you make your own hosting packages - sell them, and you make money!
Reply:Isn't it obvious? If it was so easy the people who were hosting the workshop wouldn't need to host the workshop. They would be at home swimming in their pool filled with cash.

Don't you agree?

I am hosting a foreign exchange student, can anyone tell me if there is some sort of income tax credit?
If you itemize, you might be able to deduct up to $50 a month for expenses for each full calendar month the student lives with you. It could be considered a charitable contribution if the student was placed with you by a qualified organization.

Note: Jay appears confused on the requirements for head of household status.
Reply:No. The exchange student is not a related dependent. If you are paying a significant portion of the student's expenses, you might be able to claim Head of Household status.
Reply:I can't remember the exact amount but there is a amount you can claim as a charitable deduction. I believe that it is $50 for each month in the past year that that exchange student lived with you.

Pictures from an image hosting site not working on my Myspace profile?

I changed the layout on my profile, and all of a sudden I have no pictures on my profile anymore. My default pic and my friends' pics are there, and their links still work, but the pics that I put up of my friends and stuff arent working on my profile. I also tried a different image hosting site, and they still don't work. I've taken the links off the pics, and all they say in the pictures' places are "picture and video hosting by tinypic"... help?

How does the web hosting company provide the service?

Currently i am learning about web hosting, i know that hosting a company web site can provided the email facility, how do they do that?

How does the web hosting company provide the service?
If I understand you, we are talking about using a third party to host, say, your company's web site and has included some number of email addresses for your company to use? So, you order plan C with web hosting company A. You get the web site, which simply exists on one of the third party's (Company A) many servers. They most likely made you buy or gave you a domain name like www.you.com, for example. They register that URL with their server's IP address, and as part of your deal with them, they write some code to accept say 50 separate email addresses that are in the form of JDoe@you.com. Then you have to go out and get your mail either by downloading it to a server at your site, which probably defeats the purpose of having the third party to begin with, or you set up your employees to go to the third party's server using a mail client like Outlook Express, download it, and everyone at your company gets his/hers intended email from the third party's server. To the outside public, it looks like it's all going on at your office. Hope that's what you wanted. Chris
Reply:They give a shared (used by multiple people) or dedicated (used by one person) server.

Servers are just really fast computers. The servers are linked up and a share a massive bandwidth provider like cogent (for like 800$ a month).

The email is usally using sendmail linked with some kind of cpanel, custom software, or webmin.

How email works - http://computer.howstuffworks.com/email....
Reply:Hosting Service providers are companies who usually have deployed the necessary infrastructure to give customers with different kinds of hosting service. There are some hosting providers who take brandable hosting service from real hosting companies and resell to customers. So we have to be carefull while selecting. But its very difficult to find that.

They would have Email servers like qmail, sendmail deployed and give Email service to clients. Hosting companies provide customers with control panel to manage the Email accounts easily thru web interface. So your Job becomes easy and start using email service instantly.

Example if you take www.netandhost.com you can buy the hosting pack online and activate your email service instantly. Thats how the Job is made simple.
Reply:Web hosting is often provided as part of a general Internet access plan; there are many free and paid providers offering these services.

A customer needs to evaluate the requirements of the application to choose what kind of hosting to use. Such considerations include database server software, scripting software, and operating system. Most hosting providers provide Linux-based web hosting which offers a wide range of different software. A typical configuration for a Linux server is the LAMP platform: Linux, Apache, MySQL, and PHP/Perl/Python.

Web hosting packages often include a Web Content Management System, so the end-user doesn't have to worry about the more technical aspects.

Where can i find the standard procedure of website development and hosting?

I want a new website and the domain has not been registered yet. I would like to know whats the standard procedure of starting a site from scratch and taking it online? I searched online but no good links to give me some info.

I want to outsource the web development to a company X and i want hosting from another company Y. IS that a good choice. (If later i want some changes etc).

I want to know some good market players in India for design and hosting (which i think is very good in IT.. right?) If any real good players in US or Aus i can afford it if they provide cost effective solution :)

cheers

Any ideas on how to make a web hosting website? Trying to make a website with my own domain choices like .co?
You will have to purchase hosting from a web hosting company
Reply:If you look for web hosting, don’t rush into it. Read reviews about web hosting and decide properly before going ahead with web hosting.

I personally will recommend you a web hosting which many people find it very reliable. It is hostmonster.

Before deciding to sign up hostmonster, read the reviews and stats about hostmonster at the following website.

Reply:Many web hosts have a reseller program that you can participate in. You purchase a web hosting account that allows you to host other domains on it, each with their own Cpanel set up so your customers can have full control over their web sites. You in turn charge the customer for the hosting account they use. This would be far simpler than setting up your own server and associated equipment.

I host with 3ix.com and they do have such a reseller program. Take a look at what they have on offer, you might find something to help.

I want to start a DNN website but iam confused Which hosting provider supports and is good?

I want to know which hosting provider is good and is safe to pay online and what feature should we look into for DNN support

pls help with hosting services in mumbai or other which i can pay online and be safe

I want to start a DNN website but iam confused Which hosting provider supports and is good?
I use Godaddy.com. On a shared server you'll pay $48 bucks a year. Make sure that when you sign up that you choose windows hosting. There is an automatic installation script they use for DNN. You just decide where you want the installation to occur and it does the rest. The only draw back is that it can't be installed in your root directory. So if you had xyz.com your installation would need to occur at xyz.com/whatever. What you can do to resolve this is to use a meta refresh page to redirect your visitors or do like a flash splash page.

Another drawback is that they send you offers in your email just about daily. I'm sure there is a way to take your name off the mailing list but I'm too lazy.

Good luck.

Reply:Here is a good article on this subject

:

With so many choices for technology out there it’s easy to get lost in the hype. You should be spending your time making your business grow, not fixing problems with your email or wondering why your website is down. Our goal with this article is to cut through the hype and give you the information you need to make an informed decision.

Cutting through the Hype

After sifting through the Internet you will find that 90% of hosting providers offer the same service which we will call Domain Hosting. Domain Hosting includes hosting your domain, www.yourcompany.com, so that you can have a website and email addresses.

Transfer

Sometimes referred to as bandwidth, transfer is the amount of data you are allowed to move to and from your domain over a period of time - this includes email and website traffic. The amount of data you transfer is usually tracked monthly with the usage getting reset at the end of your billing cycle.

Disk Space

You may see it called storage, disk space is the amount of room you have to store data in your domain. Disk space is measured in either Megabytes(MB) or Gigabytes(GB) where one GB is equal to 1000 MB.

Common Ploys

That’s it. You now have the knowledge to choose a Hosting provider based on the two fundamental measures: transfer and disk space. But you should read on - there are several marketing ploys used to convince you to sign-up for service, only to leave you stuck when you realize you did not get what you expected.

1) Payment terms

The most blatant marketing gimmick is to offer a basement-bottom price, something in bright colors that is made to look attractive.(Some companies have even been known to have TV commercials with swimsuit models that advertise hosting and domain registration.) The fact that a price seems cheap is the first and most important warning flag. Often you must agree to pay the amount for an entire year to get the price that is advertised; some companies require you to sign a two-year contract! Though you typically get a short trial period in which you can get a refund, it takes months to realize the quality of a hosting provider. By the time you have your first outage or support issue your refund period has expired and you have no recourse.

2) Transfer as a Gimmick

Recently many hosting companies have begun offering extremely high amounts of transfer. With a complete website size of under 20 MB many businesses are drawn in by companies that offer 250 GB, or more, of transfer each month. What these companies will not tell you on the front page is that they limit the types of files you can transfer, specifically they must be files that compose the website. This does not include media files which many business and individuals like to include on websites. Limiting the type of files that you are allowed to transfer makes the amount of transfer irrelevent.

3) Bandwidth Throttling

Under times of heavy use many companies will limit the amount of bandwidth you have available by throttling, or reducing the speed at which your site can be viewed by visitors.

Overloading servers with accounts will also give the same effect. Network resources such as Servers and Bandwidth are fixed costs for many hosting companies; a company can increase margins by putting more websites on a single server. The more websites on a server the fewer resources available to each website. The sites will still work but your performance will drop as each website fights for the resources provided by the server.

4) Disk Space as a Gimmick

Many hosting companies will limit the types of data you can store on your website. Because you are restricted in the way you can use your disk space, you will be provided a ridiculously large amount of storage. As a background, premium disk space costs an IT company like IBM or EDS 4.00-20.00$ per GB of disk space. If you find a provider that gives you 1000 GB for 3.95$ per month, that is your warning sign that there are restrictions in the fine print. Also, some companies will limit the types of files you can store on your domain. All the disk space in the world is useless if you cannot use it without restriction.

Conclusion

The most important thing you can do is create a relationship with a service provider that will help you accomplish your goals. We built Utropicmedia Network Solutions to be up-front - whether it’s pricing, support or developing new tools, our goal is to keep things simple so you can get more done. Are they written in just plain HTML? What are the extensions of your files? If you don't have any database connections, just upload your notepad files to your server.

What do you want in a Free Hosting provider?

I have had a hosting company for several years now. In January I will be adding a free hosting service. I have researched some of the competition and now would like to know what the potential clients would like. Please if you have experience with free web hosting as a customer, let me know what you liked and disliked. If you don't have experience, let me know what you would look for in a free host.

What do you want in a Free Hosting provider?
I would never use a free host for anything I considered even remotely important. I look for speed, reliability and security in a host. Cost is not as important if those concerns are addressed. That's why I use calicohosting.com

Why are there protests over China hosting the Olympics?

I was reading a small article in today's newspaper that some people are protesting China hosting the Olympics. Why is this?

Why are there protests over China hosting the Olympics?
Communist China mistreats its own people, it's occupying Tibet, it threatens Taiwan, and it supports a North Korean regime that oppresses the North Korean people and threatens the rest of the world.
Reply:Because of the negative activities of China toward Tibet.
Reply:One word: Genocide

Here's what I mean when I refer to genocide. "The Dalai Lama warned Tibet faced 'cultural genocide' and appealed to the world for help."
Reply:cuz of the issue over tibet

idfk wut the guy above is talking about genocide
Reply:Tibet
Reply:There may very well be a good reason. such as " build a better mouse trap". Why should they have to go out into the world and fight battles when they can bring the warriors to their home turf and see their strength close up. They are about technologies for mind control are they not? You do the math and translate it into words.
Reply:Yup, it's Tibet. I'm sorry, but one of these days, China gonna wake up and find out it went gangster capatalist overnight. I just can't see China trying to hold on to it's "Marxist-Maoist" background and still take in Hong Kong, have more driver that several western countries combined and be the biggest consumer of oil, or at least getting there real fast. Remember folks, these folks still shoot "Criminals" in the back of the head and bill the family for the bullet.

How to find who is hosting the website?

I have come across one company website, which is very attractive to me and would like to know who is doing the hosting service for that company's website.

How to find out any idea geeks?

How to find who is hosting the website?
the host is not necessarily the designers! but

the command traceroute let's you know how to get there... and you always get to a server by it's hosting company.

and whois shows the registry of the name. not necessarily the host.
Reply:Go here type in the info you have, it will find who runs the server, and there phone #
Reply:http://www.whois.sc

just put the website name, and it'll tell you who is hosting it.
Reply:Go to netcraft.com and you can find out information about the server a website is being hosted on. Also you can use allwhois.com to find out information about the domain.
Reply:Lookup the whois records (godaddy.com is one company that has whois). Get the DNS servers. Google the DNS.
Reply:do a search on whois.com with the website domain.
Reply:Try a whois search of the domain and it should provide this information along with the name servers directing the domain to the host. "www.whois.net" provides such a service.
Reply:Contact the sites owner and ask them

What is the best web hosting to use for a startup finance related site?

I could have bursts of traffic here and there - I don't plan on a lot of traffic right off the bat, but there is the possibility that I will get a lot of traffic at random times and stuff. So what is the best hosting plan for me? (note money is an issue, but I also want the flexibility of a solid plan)

What is the best web hosting to use for a startup finance related site?
If you like to create websites (usually you will end up more than 1 website, I got more than 100 websites in about 6 months' time), go for multiple web hosting services where you could host all your websites in one account.

I would like to suggest following webhosting which I use, they are excellent.

Hostmonster http://www.hostmonster.com/track/ryukend...

They offer hosting of "unlimited domains" and you will get massive webspace of 300000 MB (300 GB ). They only charge $5.95/month and they offer "a free Domain Name" and installing service called "Fantastico". They also offer "Free Website Builder" as well.
