How do I make a shared hosting service on a Windows machine?

Right now I have an old IBM computer sitting around with Windows XP Home, 512mb of RAM, 40gb hard drive space, and a Pentium 4 2.4ghz processor. And I was wondering how I would make a small shared hosting service for about 10 friends and myself for free? I have searched all over the internet and have found nothing.

How do I make a shared hosting service on a Windows machine?
Call a web hosting that would be a good idea.

Call a remote desktop would be an also good idea.

Call a peer to peer program also good idea.

What else you would like to know.
Reply:Web/file hosting? its possible.

1 is abyss web server

another is apache

http://httpd.apache.org/

Just put the files you want to host into the htdocs folder. To access them, http://"yourdomain/ip"/(name of file or folder)

sample

http://58.486.361.15/hi.doc

or you can use

http://127.0.0.1/hi.doc

But this is only possible when your using the computer where you are hosting the files
Reply:Remove Windows and install Linux with Apache web server, MySQL server, and PHP as a minimum.

You will need a broadband internet connection with a static IP address.

You will need to do a lot of reading (even with Windows) to get this up and running.
