How do I publish a website without hosting service?

I find it annoying that I need help from hosting websites like go daddy or yahoo to publish my website. Do I need web hosting even if I have my own server?

if you have a sever ie. web server you don't require a hosting service.just a registered domain with static/dynamic IP(will need some dyndns kind of service ) will work.

Reply:You will not need hosting for files and such, but will need a domain name registered unless it is only to be accessed from inside a LAN. Otherwise you will need to type the IP address into the address bar. And you will also need a static IP or your IP will change.
Reply:You do not unless you have a server of your own. Web hosting is not expensive. If you have your own server then you should use it and cut out the extra cost.
